How blessed and privileged we were to have Alden M Robb, known to some as Mr. Al, as a part of our lives. As one of the greatest story-tellers around, it was always a delight to visit with him and enjoy his keen sense of humor. One of the greatest gifts Alden had to offer was friendship. He just seemed to love everyone, but most of all he enjoyed the cheerful sounds of children. If he got a hug or a kiss on the cheek from one of them, that child quickly became a part of his next tale. Alden M Robb was born on December 14, 1922 into the loving arms of his parents Albert Melvin and Mary Mortensen Robb. He was born in the attic room of his modest Paragonah, Utah home. Six years later he was joined by his kid brother, Albert "Red" Kent Robb. There was no terrain in our surrounding mountains that these boys couldnt handle on foot, eventually giving them a nickname they were both proud of, The Robb Mountain Goats.Aldens family moved to Los Angeles, Ca when he was seven years old, but returned to Parowan in seventh grade. The next six years were spent making many high school memories that were reflected on until his last days with us. Being the incredible dancer that he was, the girls would line up just a get their turn at a spin or a twirl. He and his mother were known for being able to cut a rug together like no other and played beautiful duets on the harmonica. Aldens strong bass voice always seemed to land him the part of the villain in the school operettas, which he didnt seem to mind a bit. Even with such great memories, a student was never so grateful to finally graduate from high school and move on with life. Although he was offered a chance to go to college, at the age of nineteen Alden knew in his heart there was only one place for him, the U.S. Army. He proudly enlisted with one of his best buddies, Jack Dalton, serving his country as a Private First Class, eighteen months on foreign shores, and eighteen months in the states. He considered it a great honor to be an MP present at the signing of the WWII Peace Treaty in Europe. He was a humble soldier at heart all of his days Alden went on his first date with the love of his life, Adelaide "Addie" Gladish, in true Alden form. He asked her where she was headed. When she replied she was going to see a picture show, he told her hed never seen that one and he was coming along, too. From that day on, they were an inseparable team. Alden and Addie tied the knot at the Wee Kirk o the Heather wedding chapel in Las Vegas, NV on January 22, 1949. Aldens daddy taught him the importance of strong work ethics and giving his best at all he did. Determined to take the finest care of his bride, Alden held many jobs over his years, but was best known for his specialty work in concrete. From sheepherding to hunting, trout fishing to simply exploring the good old outdoors, these two remained side by side. Alden was crazy about his Addie and always got a kick out of teasing his sweet, red-headed love. They were a perfect example of the dedication a husband and wife should have towards one another. Alden was a member of the LDS church. At the precious age of 87, he came to realize the incredible love that Jesus has for him. With tear-filled eyes he accepted the forgiveness that His Lord and Savior offered to him. The peace that encompassed his heart from that day on was both evident and beautiful. Alden took his first breath in Heaven on Monday, December 27, 2010. Alden will be missed by many, including his sister-in law Ethel Green of California, niece Cecilia and Roger Jones of Alabama, many cousins in the Parowan and Cedar City, Utah area, his adopted family Harold and Darlene Rapp, Kenton and SaraAnne Stahl, adopted grandchildren Kendra, KJ, and Kristel Stahl, of Parowan, Utah, and best friends John and Jean Debus of California. Alden was preceded in death by his precious bride Addie, his parents, and his brother. A graveside memorial service will be held in celebration of Aldens life on Monday,January 3, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Parowan City Cemetery.
