Arthur Dwane Jones passed away March 11, 2018 surrounded by family in St George, Utah. Dwane was the eldest of 7 children born to Arthur Rowley jones and Violet Fay Shamo in Cedar City, Utah, August 12, 1940. He grew up in the ideal small town atmosphere of rural Cedar City where baseball, night games, neighborhood kids, and fun times were the norm. Dwane graduated from Cedar City High School with the class of 1958, and continued his education at CSU (now SUU). He developed his work ethic at a young age working alongside his Dad. During his high school and college years he worked 2 jobs, delivering milk at 4am and at an upholstery shop after school. Dwane married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Rigby, July 1, 1960 in the St George Temple. They have four children, Devon, Marcene, Janae, and Patrice. Dwane was very patriotic and served 6 years in the Utah National Guard 222nd Field Artillery Battalion (“Triple Deuce”). His passion for flying was realized during his service with WSASA (Western States Association of Sheriff’s Air Squadron) performing search and rescue missions where he served as commander for 2 terms in the Iron County Division. He owned and operated several successful businesses in Southern Utah. Dwane built a family cabin where family reunions and events were held and many tall tales were told and retold. He enjoyed serving up delicious dutch oven dinners and exploring the trails of Cedar Mountain by ATV with family and friends where all were welcome. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was often found cooking for ward parties and loved serving with his High Priest group. Although quiet in manner Dwane showed his love through service to those around him, like with his free vegetable stand. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time there with his friends from Highland Drive, and especially enjoyed fishing on Panguitch Lake. Dwane and Sharon especially enjoyed their winters in Lake Havasu where they made many friends. Dwane is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his children; Devon (Juliette) Jones, Marcene (Dane) Shakespear, Janae (Brian) Allen, and Patrice (William) Binns; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, and his siblings; Betty Ann (Roger, deceased) Chidester, Lucy (John) Hickey, Leslie (Afton) Jones, Sherrie Jones (sister-in-law), Nancy (Tony) Batty, and Jane (Chris) Bullock.
