Calvin Hutchings

Calvin B. Hutchings, 72, passed away December 5, 2021 at his home in Beaver, Utah. He was born July 10, 1949 in Cedar City, Utah to Norman and Audrey Hutchings. Cal grew up in Beaver Utah and graduated Beaver High School. He later attended Sevier Valley Tech in Richfield, Utah.

Anyone who knew Cal knew how much he loved owning and working with horses. He could be seen at any time during the day shoeing, riding and taking care of the many horses he owned through the years. Calvin spent countless hours in the mountains with his kids, grandkids, dad, friends, and family where he loved camping, hunting, riding his horses and a good cup of coffee. He was a great mechanic and always had a truck he was working on, whether it be his kids, grandkids, or a friend, he was happy to help. Cal loved working with his hands and spent countless hours on projects around his house, woodworking projects and building things with old barnwood. He worked in the Carpenters Union, Local 1977 for 40 years. He built power plants all over the state among other carpentry jobs, including building his family home in Aurora, Utah. Cal also worked in Las Vegas where he spent 20 years building casinos like MGM, Rio, and Mirage to name a few. Cal loved his cowboy hats, boots and always dressed in the best western attire. Cal lived his life one day at a time. He was proud and grateful for his 29 yrs. of sobriety. He was loved by his kids, grandkids, and many close friends. We will miss you “Ol Boy”.

He is survived by his children Brett Hutchings (Ronda) of Beaver, Callie Murray (Chad Tremaine) of North Ogden, Shaun Hutchings of Cedar City, Cody Hutchings of Beaver. Siblings: sister Hazel Bradshaw and brother Lyle Hutchings. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Audrey Hutchings; brother Richard Hutchings; brother Russell Hutchings.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00am at Southern Utah Mortuary (195 North 200 West Beaver, Utah). Viewings will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary Beaver, Utah on Thursday December 9, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Friday, December 10 from 10:00 to 11:00am. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent at www.mortuary.org.
