Connie Smith

Connie Christine Smith of Beaver, Utah passed away on Friday, December 30th, 2022 at the Beaver Valley Hospital LTC surrounded by her family. She was born February 5th, 1948 in Cedar City, Utah to Morton Franklin Smith and Lois Jeanette Baldwin Smith. She was the youngest of 4 children. She enjoyed her childhood growing up in Greenville, Utah. She loved spending time with her cousins riding horses, going on picnics, and always looking for a new adventure.

She attended Beaver High School where she developed her love and passion for drama and theater. She was involved in band, chorus, student council, drill team, Girls State, and was even an oratory contest winner. She was crowned Beaver National Guard Queen and Beaver Dairy Princess while she was in her teenage years. After graduation she attended Dixie College.

Connie married Chris Marshall in 1967 and they made their home in Minersville, Utah. Together they had six children. Wade, Julie, Jonathan, Josh, Jeanette, and Morty. They later divorced.

With her love and passion for drama she has written, directed, and starred in many plays for the civic arts theater in Beaver County. She loved the Beaver County Fair and served as chairman for many years, and always involved many members of the community. One thing she will always be remembered for is the way she could captivate an audience with her animated story telling.

Connie was so proud of her children and grandchildren, and she would share their accomplishments with everyone. She was happiest while watching them coach and play sports at Beaver High School, “especially when they won.”

She is survived by her children: Wade (Shelly) Marshall, Julie (Todd) Christensen, Jonathan (Erica) Marshall, Josh (Lisa) Marshall, Jeanette (Brandon) Raddon, Morty (Heidi) Marshall. She has nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Morton Franklin Smith and Lois Jeanette Baldwin Smith, sister Dian (Smith) Hauk, brothers Morton Lynn Smith and Joel Bart Smith, and great grandson Jagger Wade Marshall.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Beaver Valley Hospital LTC for the wonderful care and friendship they provided.

A viewing will be held Saturday, January 7th, 2023 from 10:30-11:30 am, with a remembrance service to follow at 11:30 am at the Southern Utah Mortuary (195 N 200 W, Beaver, Utah). She will be laid to rest at the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah immediately following the services under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
