Dean Kleinschmidt Obituary (1934 - 2019)

Dean Eldon Kleinschmidt was born in Estherville, Iowa on June 30, 1934. As a boy, he grew up on a farm. When 17 ½ years old, he came west with the Marine corps. He worked up through the ranks to Crew Chief, flying across the Pacific being stationed at Barber’s Point, Hawaii. In 1956 he married Lorraine Adair Wilcox, the mother of two children, Cheryl and Kurt whom he adopted. They made their home in Garden Grove, CA. A son Grant, was born and they moved to Norco, CA. (later deceased). Lorraine passed away in 1991. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Norco. At the same church he met fellow member, Sharol Anne Rock. They were married there. He leaves a blended family: Cheryl Erskine, Lora Hewitt (Jim) Ken Rock, Jeffrey Rock (Christina). Seven grandchildren; Jeffrey Erskine (Kim), Nicholas Erskine, Natalie Silva (Bobby), Luke and Shari Lambert, Jake Hewitt and Kathryn Rock. Four Great grandchildren; three girls Madison, McKenzie and Emmaline Silva and a great grandson Dean Than Erskine. Dean was very proud of his 48 years as a truck driver. Most of his career was spent at La Habra Stucco in Anaheim, CA, where he was so well thought of. He could and did talk to anyone making friends everywhere he went. He retired due to health reasons in 2003. In 2004 they moved to Cedar City to pursue their love of horses. They had many adventures riding in our beautiful mountains. Dean’s family thanks friends for the love and support they have received after his passing. Thanks also to Ethan Bunker and Sun Tree Hospice for their fine compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar City on Saturday, January 26, 2019 with a luncheon to follow. All are welcome at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
