Cedar City, UT

Dennis B. Harris "Snub" passed away at his home in Cedar City, Utah with his family gathered by his side in love and appreciation as they said their goodbyes on 30 July, 2017. Dennis was born in Magna, Utah on September 4, 1930 to Roy and Nina Harris; the youngest of 6 children. Dennis the Menace you could have called him as a child, he was so mischievous, active and always up to something. His older brother affectionately called him "Snub" and the name stuck. Dennis graduated from East High and then went on to serve in the United States in the Navy as a radio operator. Dennis loved and honored his country; daily he knew what was happening and loved to discuss and debate different views and topics. Upon completion of serving in the Navy, Dennis began working at Mountain Bell. Dennis started as a lineman and then worked his way up to the top as a network supervisor and district manager of Southern Utah. Dad married mom, Darlene, in 1962. Together they blended a family of 7. Mom brought joy and happiness to dad's heart and filled the kitchen with great cooking. Dad was a great father; he loved all of his children. He was strict, but kind and taught us to be honest and accountable for what we did. He taught us to learn from others and because of his love for books; we would hear him say, "Too much reading is never enough." Dad loved a new day. He was always happy to wake up each morning. He played his cornet to wake us up daily. Dad loved to build things, he loved riding motorcycles, keeping his body strong, traveling and taught himself how to invest in the stock market. Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Harris, his 7 children, 23 grandchildren, and nineteen grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Cedar City 17th Ward 256 S. 900 W., Cedar City, 84720. A viewing will also be held at the Church on August 5, 2017 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Internment will take place in the Cedar City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetics Association. The family would like to thank Maree with Iron County Home Health and Ethan with Alliance Hospice and Judy Parry for all the great help given to mom and dad through this time. Dad we love you. Every time we enjoy a Root Beer float we'll be thinking of you.
