Dick Nowers Obituary (1953 - 2020) - Glenwood springs, CO

Calvin passed away on Sunday, June 14th, 2020. He was 66 years of age. He was born on June 26, 1953 to Dick Emil and Rhoda LaRae Nowers in Cedar City, Utah. Calvin grew up in Beaver, Utah and graduated from Beaver High School. After graduation he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he met and married Sherry Gay Peluaga. They had 4 children together. Jesse, Henry, Jolie(deceased) and Nicholas. He has 4 grandchildren. Early in his marriage Calvin lived in Cedar City, Utah and then relocated to Rock Springs, Wyoming where he worked as a roughneck in the oilfield for a number of years. He then relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, working as a carpenter before finally settling in Beaver, Utah in 1985 where he went to work for his father in the family business. Late in his life, he relocated with Sherry and Nicholas to Montrose, Colorado where he spent his final years. Calvin played sports in high school where he was on the football team and ran track. When asked about his football days he often mentioned his favorites “I ran the 21 and 29 sweep!”. He loved riding horses and was a particularly skilled horseman. He often reminisced about his time spent with his horse Chico who he loved a great deal and spoke of frequently. Hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family were activities he liked the most. Calvin enjoyed the time he spent hunting and fishing with his boys and always made time to teach them about the outdoors. He loved the mountains so any excuse to head up the canyon was always fine with him. Other interests included Astrology, the Book of Mormon, and playing cards. Calvin was a kind-hearted person who always greeted with a smile and loved his fellow man. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was sealed to Sherry Gay Peluaga in the St. George LDS temple. Over his life he held many different positions in the church, which he loved. He is survived by his mother, Rhoda LaRae Nowers, his 3 siblings Beverly Patterson, Kim Aiken, Chad Nowers and his 3 sons. A graveside will be held for all those who wish to attend at the Mountain View cemetery in Beaver, Utah on June 27th at 11:00 am under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
