Emmalinda Thompson Obituary (1948 - 2026)

On the evening of January 10, 2026, Emmalinda Thompson, age 77, of Cedar City, Utah, passed away peacefully. Emmalinda is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Thomas Thompson; her daughter, Jennifer Stegner; her granddaughters, Madison and Abigail; her sister, Roberta Ostler (Michael); her sisters-in-law, Nora Lujan and Debbie Hood; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Fredrico Lujan, and her siblings Fran Salazar, Fred Lujan, William (Willie) Lujan, Precilla Ulibarri, Kathy Banks, and Daniel T. Lujan. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Emmalinda developed a lifelong love of learning at an early age. She enjoyed school, was active in numerous clubs, and was an avid reader. One of her greatest talents was embroidery—an art she practiced with care and creativity and for which she received several awards. Later in life, Emmalinda met her soulmate, Tom. Together they built a life filled with love. They enjoyed golfing, taking scenic car rides, and working side by side running their business, Abbey Carpets. Dedicated to her community, Emmalinda served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, where her leadership and service were recognized with the honor of Woman of the Year. Emmalinda had a wonderful sense of humor and an adventurous spirit, especially if that adventure involved a bookstore. She brought joy to those around her and she will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held in Salt Lake City. The time and location will be announced at a later date. Please contact the family for more information.
