On January 16, 2021, Evelyn Israel passed away in St. George, Utah. Evelyn Margaret Larson was born May 3, 1936 in Valley City, North Dakota, daughter of Leonard and Sylvia (Amundson) Larson. Evelyn attended and graduated from Noltimier Consolidated School in 1954. Evelyn was the third of four children born to Leonard and Sylvia.\nEvelyn graduated from Valley City State Teacher’s College in 1958 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English and a proficiency in History. She taught in Fargo, ND; Incline Village, NV; and Kingman, AZ.\nEvelyn married her sweetheart Stanley Jack Israel on October 10, 1963 in the Mesa, Arizona temple. They lived in Tucson, AZ and Albuquerque, NM before settling in Cedar City, Utah. Jack and Evelyn had a stillborn daughter, Sarah, before welcoming three children: Mary (Ken Steortz) Pjevac, Cedar City, UT; Rebecca (Dave) Bischoff, Twin Falls, ID; and Joel (Janet) Israel, Cedar City, UT. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, three of her children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include: Maya, Tristan, Landon, and Lexi Pjevac; Taylor and Lexie Bischoff; and Feid Israel and Gabriel Israel (Ignacio) Lawson. Great-grandchildren include: Lealand, Avalon and Maddyx Sands. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; siblings LeRoy, Lyle, and Merilyn; and granddaughter, Samantha Pjevac.\nBasketball was a big part of Evelyn’s growing up years, and she served as Captain of her team in high school. She loved to watch the Utah Jazz and would become quite animated watching basketball games. She also loved baking and cooking for her family. She was very close to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent a great deal of time with them. Evelyn taught Primary for 38 years, which she dearly loved and was very good at. She also loved to do genealogical work and spent countless hours searching for family names through every means possible, which even included making contact with researchers in Norway. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and making people feel special.\nPrivate family services will be held. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
