Glade E. Smith passed away in Cedar City, Utah on August 6, 2023 at the age of 96. He was born in Heber City, Utah on October 13, 1926 to Tracy Jacob Smith and Retta Graham Smith. After his father died in 1935, his mother remarried in 1937 and moved his family to Moroni, Utah. Glade resided in Moroni for six years before joining the Navy during World War II and serving his country for four years. \n\nGlade went on to marry Gloria Matheson on October 10, 1945. Later sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George temple on May 30, 2003. His sweetheart passed away May 4, 2002 after a valiant battle with leukemia. \n\nGlade was employed by the Utah Department of Transportation, engineering department in Cedar City for 37 years. He also went on to drive a school bus for the Iron County School District. Driving a regular route and taking high school sport trips and elementary field trips. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a High Priest. Serving also as the Ward Clerk for the Parowan 2nd Ward for 23 years. \n\nGlade is survived by his children: Connie (Mike) Condor of American Fork, Utah; Tracy J. Smith (Jenny) of Henderson, Nevada; Melanie (Craig) White of Summit, Utah. His siblings: Marge (Dean) Holt of Toquerville, Utah; Ralph (Sanna Rae) Draper of Roosevelt, Utah. And, his sister in law: Peggy Draper of Pioche, Nevada. As well as 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. \n\nGlade is preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria and siblings: LaRetta, Donna, Irma, Maurice, Beverly, Shirley, Tommy and brother in law Dean Holt.\n\nA Graveside will be held Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 am in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah mortuary.
