Gregg Ned Bergera, beloved husband, brother, and friend to those who knew him, passed away in the Valley View Medical Center on Monday, September 28, 2015. The cause was cardiac arrest. He was 57 years old. Gregg was born on February 8, 1958 in the Utah Valley Hospital (Provo) to James and Ella Ruth Bergera. He attended Joaquin, Maeser and Provost elementary schools, Dixon Jr. High School, and Provo High School (class of 1977). In his early life, Gregg enjoyed reading, poetry, and especially the company of family and friends. Gregg was a true renaissance man. He often spoke of his nieces and nephews, who were always in his thoughts, with fondness and compassion. Gregg married Joann Haight of Cedar City, Utah, on May 1, 1993. She was "the light of his life." Gregg and Joann loved each other very much, and were seldom seen apart from one another. Gregg is survived by his wife, Joann; his brothers and sister: Gary, Scott, Cathy, and Paul, their spouses and children; as well as Joann's extended family. Gregg's family appreciates the support of the many friends, social workers, and health care professionals who helped Gregg live the best life he could. Gregg's fortitude, attitude, and spirit helped to guide him, Joann, and his family through a challenging yet full life. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W, Cedar City, UT). Visitation will be held prior from 9:30-10:30 am also at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
