Janice Renae Terry Mayer, 79, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023, at the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care facility. Janice was born on November 6, 1943, in Payson, Utah to Charles and Dorothy Terry. She married Jerry Mayer on September 17, 1966, and is the mother of Joel (Rebecca) Mayer, Fallon, NV; Jill (Jeff) Stauffer, Monmouth, OR; and Jerilyn (Tony) Arnold, Frisco, TX. She loved being called Grandma by her nine grandchildren: Devon, Atticus, and Zackary Mayer, Rachelle (Thomas) Johnson, Tina, Natalie, and Brycson Stauffer, and Ethan (Tatum) and Logan Harris. Janice was also blessed by ten great-grandchildren. She is sister to Charlotte, Paula, Betty, and Chuck.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, sister Charlotte, brother Chuck, husband Jerry, and two great-grandchildren, Jeramiah “Little Jerry” Mayer and Christopher Johnson.
Janice was an example of service and loved her family above all else. For nearly 25 years, she dedicated herself to the children of Milford Elementary School as the secretary. As a devoted farmer’s wife, she often took food to the field at midnight during alfalfa cutting season. Janice was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and she had a strong commitment to her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She loved playing hymns on the organ and piano and even played for her fellow residents at the long-term care facility. Her love for music included musicals, with her favorite being Phantom of the Opera. For several years, she was a season ticket holder for Dallas Summer Musicals and looked forward to her monthly outing to watch the performances. Janice took great pride in a clean house and considered herself a “washer woman.” Not only did she support her daughters riding horses, but she was also the biggest fan of the Wright Boys and would frequently attend any rodeo in Texas where they competed. She lived in Texas for 17 years after the passing of her husband, but her heart remained in the Milford Valley, and she loved the view of the Granites in the Mineral Mountains. She was able to spend her final year in Milford being cared for by those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to acknowledge Milford Valley Memorial Hospital and express our love and gratitude to all the staff.
