Jean Macfarlane Bunting, age 92, passed away peacefully on Feb 11, 2010, due to complications from a fall. Born in Cedar City, UT to Caleb William Macfarlance and Ida Caroline Corry on April 6, 1917. After high school and college (attended Branch Agricultural College), she worked at Zion National Park, Sun Valley, Idaho, New York City (on a cruise ship between New York and South America), and joined the Navy November 27, 1944 and served during WWII until March 8, 1946. Jean married Adrian O. Bunting in Cedar City Utah on June 9, 1946, their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary prior to his death in 2008. She was employed at JC Penney and Iron County Record for many years. Jean held many positions in Primary and Young Womens in the LDS Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, bowling, reading and crossword puzzles. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to numerous bridge clubs. She loved to golf and served as an officer of the Cedar Ridge Ladies Association. She was "Nana" to 11 wonderful grandchildren and "Great Nana" to 11 great grandchildren.Jean is survived by her children; Lucinda (Steve) Mitchell of Cedar City, UT., Brenda (John Ilnicki) Bunting of Haliewa, HI., Debra LeBaron of Cedar City, UT. and Teri (Jeff) Peterson of Cedar City, UT. She is preceded in death by; her husband Adrian, her parents, brothers Ernest and Millard Macfarlane, sisters Maude Halverson, Mildred Nelson and Blanche Webster, and one granddaughter Stacy Mitchell. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 North 300 West in Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Mortuary, and then again on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
