Cedar City, Utah
Jeanne Angela Ence was born on May 7, 1946, in the Iron County Hospital in Cedar City Utah. She was the daughter of John Austin Ence, a sheep rancher in Cedar City, and Nedra Roundy Ence, his wife of Kanarraville.
Angie grew up in a traditional Mormon/Ranching family, participating fully in the demands of home life, learning to cook and clean and care for her younger siblings. The entire family also participated in ranch life, helping with lambing and shearing in springtime, living and herding in summers on Kanarra Mountain, and out on the Nevada desert for winter grazing.
Angie learned to sew at her mother’s side and by the time she was nine years old she was a gifted seamstress. It was the 1950’s and Hawaiian shirts were all the rage. When her local neighborhood pals, wanted to have one – to our amazement and amusement – she made them and they fit. She also made her own clothes and sewed for her sisters and her children.
She attended school at Kanarraville Elementary until seventh grade when she was bused into Cedar Junior High. She graduated from Cedar High School in 1964. After high school Angie worked at National Parks and later was a manager at Coleman.
In 1966, she married Kenneth I. Williams of Kanarraville. They had four children together, Heidi, Amy, Melissa & Tim. Kenny worked road construction and Angie, and the kids often accompanied him on his jobs in locations around Southern Utah and Nevada.
After her current marriage to Shan Wofford, a Vietnam vet, she continued her career making designer rodeo wear for both men and women. Her western designs were much in demand, and she specialized in items made from worn-out Levis. Later she transitioned to bespoke woolen vests for cowboys and broomstick skirts for ladies.
Angie had always been obsessed with antiques. She was knowledgeable about trends and desirable items and had a “good eye.” She had a vast collection of old and beautiful objects of historical, aesthetic, or cultural significance. This passion led to a second career, and she began curating collections for estate sales in Utah, Idaho, and Montana.
Angie had a vivid personality, and she loved her relationships with friends and family. She was an avid animal lover and always had cats, dogs, deer, skunks, chipmunks and of course dogie lambs.
There will not be a day that goes by that we will not miss her silliness, her jokes, her food, her caring heart, her voice, and her unconditional love. You will forever be in our hearts and our minds because you live on in all of us.
Angela passed away from an Ischemic stroke on September 25, 2026, in the Cedar City Hospital. She is survived by her husband Shan Wofford, her children, Heidi Williams Buckley, Amy Williams Fosteson, Melissa Williams Cusack, John Timothy Williams, Kenneth Porter Jr., Waylon Wofford, Mangus Wofford; five siblings, Rae Lewis, Barbara Munford, David Ence, Rosemary Middleton, Elizabeth Gabrielsen; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
