Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, artist, and psychologist, Joanne Dunbar Bowne, 74, passed away from cancer on December 27, 2012, in Cedar City, Utah. She was born May 9, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, to Lois E. Pocock and Joseph Henry Dunbar. She married Mark Wayne Browne on June 12, 1981 in Encino, California. Joanne received a PhD in Education from UCLA. Numerous high school students benefitted from her caring and conscientious approach as a school psychologist. She was a member of the Southern Utah Watercolor Society and displayed her art at the Iron County Fair and other places. She did volunteer work for the Southwest Wildlife Foundation and participated in art and craft groups, book clubs, Red Hats, and the Southern Utah University Arthritis swim group.She is survived by her husband, Mark Wayne Browne; children Douglas Collins of San Mateo, CA, Cynthia Collins of Berkeley, CA, Lori Browne and two grandchildren of Keystone, SD; son-in-law Achim Brinker of Berkeley, CA; and sister Judy Dunbar of San Jose, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lois Dunbar and step-son Tim Browne.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, Utah.
