Joanne Goetzelman passed away in Beaver, Utah, surrounded by family at age 85 on June 30, 2021.Born on January 5, 1936 in Long Beach, California, she was the eldest of two daughters of Ernest and Hazel Schroller. Susan, her surviving sister was born in 1945.Joanne moved with the family to Palmdale, California in 1953 then later relocated to Lancaster where she made a life with her husband, Elmer Goetzelman and her four children.Elmer and Joanne had a special relationship. He was the love of her life and she his. They were best friends and partners, their life together was filled to the brim with love, respect and fun which reflected on all who knew them. Elmer passed away in 1997.Joanne relocated to Beaver, Utah in 2001 where she made a comfortable life with her sister and brother-in-law Susan and Dave Byers as well as other family members that had relocated.Joanne committed herself to caring for her family above all else, was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She loved to cook and made sure everyone who walked in her door left with a full belly of wonderful home-made food. When she wasn’t cooking, she played games with any family member or friend who would play. She was an avid reader throughout her entire life, always surrounded by piles of books. Her hands were often busy with arts and crafts, throughout the years doing cross-stitch, crochet, sequined Christmas ornaments, and much more, but what she loved the very most was plastic canvas magnets and tissue box covers. She and her sister Sue often sold their creations at local craft shows.Joanne was a lover of nature. After having lived near the ocean, the desert and the mountains, she grew a great appreciation for the beauty of the land. She loved all animals but especially wolves, bears, loons and lizards. After moving to Beaver, one of her favorite things to do was to fish, Little Res. was a favorite lake of hers to sit and relax with the family for the day. She also loved sitting at home on the porch looking out on the serenity of a beautiful pasture with horses grazing.She led a full life filled with laughter, fun and love.Joanne was preceded in death by both parents, husband Elmer Goetzelman, brother-in-law Dave Byers and nephew Chris Brannon.She is survived by her four children Anthony (Tony) Goetzelman, David (Dave) Goetzelman, Linda (Goetzelman) McColley and Michael (Mike) Goetzelman. Survivors also include her sister Susan (Schroller) Byers, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Surviving family members residing in Beaver include Mike Goetzelman, Susan Byers, Debbie Nichols, Shelby Goetzelman, Peyton Jones, Tylene Vowels and family, Sean Brannon and family and Sam Zoucha.\nAs requested by Joanne, no services will be held and please, no flowers or gifts.
