Jody Pickett, lady elect, wife extraordinaire, and angel mother died suddenly October 30, 2013. She was born in Snowflake, Arizona in 1952 to Merrill Dan Mills and Betty Robinson. Jody met and married Troy James Shoemake Jr. at the institute building of Cerritos College in California where, in defense of her best friend, she kicked him in the shin over a misunderstanding. He fell in love instantly and asked her out. She of course said yes. They married in the Los Angeles Temple on June 24th 1972. Together they have 3 children: Tamara Palmer (Trevor), Stephen Shoemake (Keauna), and Daniel Shoemake (Amber). And have 10 amazing grandchildren. After Troy died in 2008, Jody was courted by Lorin Pickett who she fell head-over-heels in love with. They married in the St. George Temple Chapel in 2009. Lorin and Jody decided to serve a mission together for the LDS Church and were called to the Detroit Michigan Area where they served faithfully for 2 years. They just returned in July and were just getting settled in when Heavenly Father called her on to her next mission. Jody is survived by her husband Lorin, her three children and their spouses, her 10 grandchildren, Lorins 4 children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her 2 brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Greenslake 19th Ward (1177 W. Greenslake Dr, Cedar City, UT). Visitations will be held Wednesday, November 6th from 6-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W, Cedar City, UT) and Thursday, November 7th from 11:30 am " 12:30 am at the church.
