John E. Denhalter, Jr. passed away on December 27, 2016 in him home in St. George, Utah. He was born March 01, 1927 in Glendale CA and was adopted by an angel, Elizabeth Denhalter at age 5. He served as a medic on naval hospital ships. He married Karen Wright. He earned a Master's degree in secondary education and English. He taught school for 40 years at the junior, high school, and college levels. He was an avid gardener, reader, genealogist, and master teacher. He held many priesthood positions at the Ward and Stake levels. He and his wife served a mission in Samoa and were temple workers for 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Karen Wright Denhalter, sister Elizabeth Ahre, and half-sister Marrietta Carsten; four children, Scot , Jenifer Fondren, Thom, and Matt; and daughters-in-law Jackie Denhalter Blair and Jennifer Hunter Denhalter, 20 grandkids, and 25 great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his son Paul, grandson John Paul Denhalter, and great grandson Brigham Paul Denhalter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Morningside Stake Center (879 S River Road, St. George, UT). Viewing will be held prior from 10-11:00 am at the chapel. Interment will take place Monday, January 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Parowan Cemetery in Parowan, Utah under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
