Kathryn Adams

Kathryn Hunter Adams age 88, passed away on Saturday, February 19th at her home in Cedar City surrounded by family. For 14 years she struggled with complications from a stroke leaving her paralyzed. With all those challenges she was always upbeat and positive.

Kathryn was born July 27th, 1933 to George M. Hunter and Pauline Wood Hunter in Cedar City, Utah. She was the youngest of six. Kathryn married William Gary Adams on June 28th, 1952 in Cedar City and their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.

Kathryn worked as a medical receptionist for many local doctors. She served as a ward and stake librarian in the Cedar Stake for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints. She was the president of Cedar Lady Elks 1969 and then served as Utah President of Lady Elks from 1970-1971. Kathryn and Gary enjoyed their square dancing years, entertaining at her home and at their cabin, but most of all she adored being a grandma and helped taking care of her grandkids.

She is survived by her two children, Craig Gary Adams, Paula Parry (Kendall). Grandchildren: Brennon Adams (Christie), Amanda Wiedmeier (Levi), Shaylee Lamoreaux (Kenneth), EmaLee Adams, Shawn Adams (Jessica), Brady Parry and 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norine Bell, Georgia Merrill and her brothers, Clyde, Antone and Richard Hunter.

Her family would like to thank Ethan Bunker and the staff at Sun Tree Home & Hospice, and Dr. Mark Corry. Special thanks to Mikayla Mineer and Aliselyn Maxfield for the daily tender care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25th at 11AM at the Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N. 300 W. Cedar City, Utah) with a viewing the same day from 9:30am-10:30am prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Livestream of funeral will be available.
