Our beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend Mary Ann Banks passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19th 2023 in her home in Beaver, Utah. Mary was born the 4th child and 2nd daughter of 6 children to Guardell Banks and LaRue Beaumont Banks on January 21st 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary grew up in Milford, Utah, graduating from Milford High School in 1962. Mary was a remarkable student. She received the Mayor's Citizenship Award along with her good friend Tom Walker her junior year. Mary was also the Junior Class Prom Chairman. Mary started BYU in the fall of 1962 but had to drop out her second year. She worked in the business world for many years. She returned to BYU and graduated in April 1995 with a BA degree. Mary taught special education for 15 years. Fourteen of those years were at Granite School District and one year at Jordan School District. The schools she taught at were Valley Junior High in West Valley City, Utah, Cypress High in Magna, Utah, Kearns High in Kearns, Utah, and West Jordan Junior High in West Jordan, Utah. She held many church positions throughout her life in Payson, Utah, Taylorsville, Utah, and Beaver, Utah.\n\nMary was preceded in death by her parents Guardell and LaRue Banks; oldest brother James DeMar Banks of Cedar City, Utah; 2 sisters Charlotte LaRue Banks of Beaver, Utah and Martha Ellen Orm of Apple Valley, CA; and great niece Reagan Shea Banks of High Point, North Carolina.\n\nMary is survived by her brother Russell Clyde Banks of Cedar City, Utah; sister Alma Jean Banks of Beaver, Utah; sister-in-law Elizabeth Jayne Banks of Cedar City, Utah and brother-in-law Earl Orm of Apply Valley, CA; three nephews, one niece, four great nephews, six great nieces, five great great nephews, and five great great nieces.\n\nA funeral service for Mary will be held Wednesday, November 29th 2023 at 11:00 am at Southern Utah Mortuary (195 N 200 W, Beaver, UT). A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.mortuary.org.
