BEAVER- Mary Bernice Mackerell, 96 died November 29, 2010 in Beaver Valley Hospital. She was born December 2, 1913, in Beaver, UT to Walter and Margery Adams Mackerell, She attended school in Beaver and later college in Cedar City and Logan, UT.Bernice Volunteered her service to her country during World War II, joined the U.S. Navy WAVES, and was stationed in Hawaii where she helped care for casualties from Iwo Jima. Upon returning home, she worked in the Selective Service office until she retired. She loved to learn and was a avid reader. She brought a love of exotic plants from her fourn of duty in Hawaii and kept her window sills filled with beauty and color. This love was reflected in her painting and needlework. She always remembered birthdays of her extended family. Bernice was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served a mission in the St. George Temple.Bernice is survived by her two sisters, Margery Twitchell and Shirley Howard, both of Salt Lake City, UT, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant sisters, Doris, Beulah, Laurel, her sister Mildred Draper, her brother-in-laws, Robert L. Draper and Bruce Howard.Funeral Services will be held December 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary located at 195 North 200 West, Beaver, UT 84713. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, UT, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
