Michael Hogan France, 63, of Cedar City passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous fight with liver disease. He was born November 16, 1951 in Centerville, Utah to Richard and Leona France. As a kid, Michael was a natural thrill seeker and was always finding trouble with his older brother Richard. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Chapman Stults, and later divorced yet remained lifelong friends. Working at the France Service Garage in Centerville and manufacturing plants throughout Utah he was a natural mechanic and could fix virtually anything. He was an avid hunter and target shooter. Known for his energetic smile, easygoing attitude, handlebar mustache, and a gigantic heart, he was a great friend to anyone. He was also a fun storyteller. Every year his fish, deer, and adventures got bigger and better. Easy to love and hard to forget. He lived every minute of his life to its fullest. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his children Melissa (Jed) Fuller, April (Merrill) Peterson, Michael (Angela) France, Daniel (Meladee) Nelson, Angela (Adam) Burton and his siblings Richard (Annette) France, Rosemary (Kert) Beynon, and LuAnn France-Morris along with 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Michael is preceded in death by his mother and father and infant twin granddaughters Harlee and Bryndee Peterson. Michael's children would like to personally thank Michael G. Stults, MD, our step father, for going above and beyond to give us extra time with our father during the Christmas season. A viewing will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City at 11:30 am and followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm Saturday December 20, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations for funeral expenses are gratefully accepted at the Michael H. France Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo. Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
