Michael King Morris, 63, of Beaver, Utah, passed away surrounded by his family on April 14, 2010. He was born on September 28, 1946 to King & Donna Morris, in Grandma Estas kitchen in Beaver, Utah, the oldest of 3 children. His siblings are Gloria Murdock and Larry Morris. He was a graduate of Beaver High School, class of 1964. Mike went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in New Zealand. After returning, he joined the Army, married Barbara Jean Bonner in the St. George Temple, and then served in the Vietnam War. Coming home he started his family having four children; Micky, Thad, Wesley and Misha, and worked the dairy farm with his dad. It was these things that formed his character. A man of honor and integrity, a strong work ethic, and a family man with strong ties to his own. After 17 years of marriage, Mike and Barbara were divorced. On Thanksgiving Day in 1985, he married Marti Raftery, adding five children to his family; Brooke, Geoff, Randi, Greg and Brie. Their marriage was sealed in the St. George Temple.He was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many callings; teaching, scouting and in four Bishoprics. Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. A man of few words that always made his presence known. He had a love for all things outdoors. Fishing and hunting were his passion, and he shared that with his family.Mike retired from Utah Power & Light after 24 years of service in 2008. His retirement days of travel, rest and relaxation were short lived. Mike, shortly after retirement, stepped on a roller coaster of declining health. Which after a brave and strong battle, he lost.He is survived by his wife Marti, children; Thad & Melinda Morris, Brooke Raftery-Taylor, Wes & Nancy Morris, Geoff & Heidi Raftery, Misha Morris, Randi & Ryan Dumlao, Greg & Rebecca Raftery, Brie & Tony Ghinazzi along with 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Micky and both parents.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Beaver LDS 4th Ward. A visitation will be held from 11:00 - 12:30 pm at the Church prior to the services on Saturday. Internment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. The family would like to thank all of the extended family, friends and community for their prayers, love and support they have given.
