Michael Smith

Michael Paul Smith, 70yrs old, passed away on Friday Feb. 26th 2021. He was born May 24th 1950 (on his Dad’s birthday) to Paul and Afton Smith. He grew up in Beaver Utah, graduated from Beaver High School, and received his diesel mechanics certificate from Utah Trade Tech. He married his eternal companion Oralin Gardner on July 14th 1973 in the Provo Utah Temple.Mike served in the National Guard, and in various LDS church callings. His Favorite church calling was the 10 yrs he served at the Beaver Correctional Facility. Mike served an LDS mission, with his wife, at the bishops storehouse. He owned his own meat packing plant for 7yrs, then he worked for Utah Power first at the hydropower plant up Beaver canyon, and finally finished his career with 30+ years as an operator for the Milford Blundell Power Plant. His hobbies included farming, card games, and telling family history stories. He is best known for his laugh.He is survived by his wife Oralin Smith and their 8 children: Michael (Mindi) Smith, Renae (Michael) Mitchell, Wendy Neil, Shauna (Conrad) Barrow, Margaret (Matthew) Jones, Kevin (Emma) Smith, Kimberly (Nathaniel) Johnson, and Amanda (Benjamin) Levie, 25 Grandchildren, his sisters Sherri Gray and LuAnn Cluff and his brother-in-laws Richard Limb and Kenneth Gray.
Proceeded in death by: his loving parents Paul Andrew and Afton Bringhurst Smith, his brother Melvin Dean Smith and sister Susan Limb, and brother-in-law Gordon Cluff.Funeral services will be held Wed. March 3rd 2021 at 11 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center. A viewing will be held Tue. March 2nd 2021 from 6-8pm at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary immediately following funeral services.
