Miles Derrick

It’s with heavy hearts (and a touch of sarcasm) that we announce the passing of Miles Vellow Derrick, 48, who clocked out of life’s shift on October 25, 2025, in Cedar City, Utah.

Born September 19, 1977, Miles lived life full throttle — whether he was cheering on the Steelers (even when it hurt), blasting Tool or System of a Down, or taking his motorcycle for “just a quick ride” that somehow lasted all day.

He leaves behind his four favorite humans — Rusti, Jade, Sage, and Zoe — who will forever miss his jokes, his playlists, and his knack for turning any moment into a laugh.

He’s now reunited with his mother, Ellen Derrick, and his brother, Lyndon Derrick — hopefully somewhere with loud music, open roads, and no traffic laws.

In true Miles fashion, he’d probably say, “Don’t be sad — just turn up the music, crack a smile, and keep it in gear.”

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 12:00pm at Southern Utah Mortuary. A viewing will be held prior to the service for family members at 11:00 am. Final arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent at www.mortuary.org.
