Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Nevada Hyland Lake-Morris 79, passed away on Nov. 30, 2010 at her home of natural causes in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on Jan. 27, 1931 in Ely, Nevada to Morris Roberts and Mary Veronica Hyland Roberts. She grew up in Kimberly, Nevada attending grade school, and then moved to Ely to finish out her school years where she graduated from White Pine High School. She married Keith G. Lake on June 26, 1949 in Pioche, Nevada their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple; he passed away on Sept. 11, 1974. She later married Haymer D. Morris on May 28, 1998.She was a daddys girl and would spend precious time with her dad during the summers at his job as the sexton in Ely, Nevada. He would also take her ice fishing. She worked various jobs in her youth, one of the more memorable jobs was at a drug store in Ely.Nevada and Keith started their family in Ely, Nevada, and joined the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was an active member and served in various callings. While raising their children she worked as a secretary and sales lady. They lived in Caliente, Nevada where they were involved in the community in various capacities for about 4 years, and then onto Cedar City, Utah where she and Keith owned Karls Shoe Store. Nevada loved dancing of all types especially square dancing and round dancing; she was a member of Hey Cedars Square dancing for many years. Some of her favorite occasions were spending time with grandkids, family parties, picnics, water aerobics, Phase 10 cards and other games, neighborhood parties, the family home evening group, along with parades, rodeos; specifically the Dixie Roundup which was a long standing tradition. She also enjoyed traveling and especially cruises. Survivors include her husband Haymer D. Morris of Cedar City, children Kerry (Velda) Lake of Shreveport, LA, Korry Lake of St. George, Utah, and Kurtis Lake of Ivins, Utah. Also surviving her grandchildren, Kayse (Ashlee), Kolt (Katie), Meagen (Josh), Mellisa Lake, Krystle Lake, Amber Tuft & Justin Tuft, along with 7 great grandchildren and 2 sisters Mary Ellen Rudy of St. George and Jeannette Sproule (Neal) of LaVerkin, Utah. She was preceded in death by her first husband Keith G. Lake, her parents, a sister Ollie Myers, a brother Morris Buck Roberts, 3 grandsons Kortney Lake, Jedidiah Lake, and Kameron Lake, and a great grandson Max Lake. Funeral services will be held on Sat. Dec. 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m in the Cedar Stake Center located at 155 East 400 South. Friends may call Fri. evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary and Sat. morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
