Patrick Baker

–

St. George, Utah

Our faithful and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Patrick Keith Baker, valiantly finished his earthly assignment and returned home to his Heavenly Father on October 22, 2022 at the age of 71 in St. George, Utah. He was born in Cedar City, Utah on March 21, 1951 to Gordon and Estelle Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife (Nancy), daughter (Angela), parents and brother (Phillip). He served as an Officer in the Army National Guard for 13 years after graduating from Beaver High School in 1969.

Patrick found joy building relationships in the community through his professional affiliations. He was an entrepreneur who started his career by building a masonry business constructing homes, churches, banks and office buildings throughout Utah County. He continued to use the skills he gained during those years in the service of others, as well as in personal projects at home. He spent a few years in Idaho selling construction equipment for Century Equipment before becoming an insurance agent in St. George, Utah for Beneficial Life and subsequently State Farm, where he spent 34 years building his agency.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings, including bishop, bishopric counselor, high councilman, elder’s quorum president, gospel doctrine teacher, ordinance worker and assistant recorder in the St. George temple. He loved doing family history. He was dedicated to finding the names of his ancestors and submitting them for temple work. He viewed family history and the work he performed in the temple as one of his most impactful accomplishments in this life.

Patrick married Pamela Mathews in 2007 and the two of them moved to Apple Valley, Utah in 2017, where they made his dream of owning a ranch and breeding thoroughbred racehorses a reality. He especially loved raising the young horses. In his childhood, he was a jockey for his father, and he always had a desire to reconnect with that part of his life. His grandfather, Samuel Hickman, taught him to golf, and he was an avid golfer throughout his life. He also loved fishing, hunting, and traveling.

He and his wife Nancy were blessed with six children: Angela, Kariann (Jared), Spencer (Heidi), RaQuel, Natalie (Michael) and Jordan (Tomoe). Together with his wife Pamela, he gained four children: Rich, Lisa (Isaac), David (Jennifer) and Allie. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and his siblings: Robert, Ronald (Barbara), Kenneth (JoAnn) and Bonnie (Dan), as well as his beloved dog, Max.

He will be best remembered by those whose lives he touched as a kind, generous, passionate, thoughtful, and faithful person that deeply cared about others. His love of family, friends and his religion were his focus on earth. Our deep appreciation goes to Dixie Hospice for their excellent and kind care in his final days.

A graveside service and military honors will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 1:30pm at the Mountain View Cemetery, Beaver, UT.
