Remerice Matheson Obituary (1919

Remerice Eyre Matheson, age 93, passed away July 8, 2013 in the Beaver Valley Hospital. She was born in Parowan, Utah on Dec. 12, 1919, the eighth child of William and Nannie Osborne Eyre. She had six sisters: Thelma, Rhea, Arvilla, Garnetta, Velda, and Carline and one brother: Mel. She attended school in Parowan and graduated from Parowan High School. She married Thomas Earl Matheson on Jan. 6, 1940 in the St. George Temple. Two sons were born to them: Reldon and Raymon. They had nine grandsons: Brady, Jarred, Troy, and Wade are Reldons sons. Raymons sons are Chad, Eric, Ryan, Todd, and Jason. Her family was the delight of her life. She was a great homemaker. She excelled in quilting, crocheting, and canning. Many blue ribbons were earned at the fair on her entries. She was a very kind lady. She did simple sweet kind things to show her compassion to others. She gave away many hot pads as thank you gifts. She worked alongside Earl when he became the custodian of the 1st and 2nd ward church. They also worked together to raise a beautiful garden. She took good care of her fruit trees and flowers. Remerice was an active member of the LDS church. She has served in various callings including Relief Society President, Primary teacher, Librarian, Visiting teacher, and Visiting Teaching supervisor. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her son Reldon, her grandson Eric, her parents, sisters, and brother. She is survived by her son Raymon of Shelley, Idaho; eight grandsons and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parowan Stake Center on Main Street. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
