Rickey Lee Lowe went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2015 following a courageous battle with illnesses attributed to Agent Orange exposure. He was born on January 16, 1949 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Rickey graduated from Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, CA in 1967. He joined the Marine Corps in 1968 and served his country as a Rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines in Vietnam from 1969-1970. During his service he graduated from the Vietnamese Language Course at the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA. Rickey was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1970. On November 24, 1984 Rickey married the former Cheryl Ann Cook and adopted her son, Christopher. The Lowe family moved from Oxnard, CA to Cedar City, UT in 1994. Rickey worked for the Iron County School District as a bus driver from 1994 until 2001. He was then promoted to Transportation Instructor and Driver Trainer, and also worked as a Commercial Driver License Examiner until 2006. Rickey was a faithful Christian and a member of El Rio First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Cedar City, and Valley Bible Church during various stages in his life. He was very active in the churches he attended, and enjoyed being a music leader as well as a Sunday School teacher. On July 9, 2006 Rickey married the former Sidney Dawn Watson and they made their home in Las Vegas, NV. Rickey is preceded in death by his father, Gene Cortez Lowe; his mother, Norma Irene Lowe-Strojny; and his wife, Cheryl Ann Lowe. Rickey is survived by his wife, Sidney Lowe; son Christopher M. Lowe and his wife Kelly; grandsons Shooter and Gunner; Stepdaughter Alison Wells; Step-granddaughters Jasmine and TigerLily; Stepson Nathan Watson; Brother Derrill W. Lowe and his wife Myrna; Brother Wesley A. Lowe; and many other relatives and friends. Rickey was a wonderful father, husband, and brother. He was kind, funny, generous, and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 8:00 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Boulder City, NV. Graveside services will be held at the Cedar City Cemetery in Cedar City, UT on Friday, November 13th at 3:00 pm under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
