Robert Lee Vest, 79, passed away at his home on January 21, 2017. “Bobby” was born in Lynndyl, UT to Myron Cornell and Mary Alean Talbot Vest. He attended Delta High School, the home of the rabbits. He was soon known by his many friends as “Rabbit”. While there he excelled at many sports and was honored for his athleticism, earning All Conference Quarterback. His talent took him to the College of Southern Utah (now SUU) where he was named 1955-56 athlete of the year and he remains in their Sports Hall of Fame. He finished his playing career at USU. His admiration for sports continued throughout his life including coaching many of his children’s teams. He worked at Litton Industries (Quality Control), Cordin Co. (Quality Control and Purchasing Manager) and QEMS (Purchasing Manager). He married Marilyn Elaine Hull (deceased). He later married Barbara Adair Carlson Northrup, they were sealed December 29, 1999 in the Jordan River Temple. They both retired and moved from the “snow” to St George, UT. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters: Julie Kaye Vest Hekking (Tony) and Sherry Elizabeth Northrup Muir (Russ), sons: Douglas Robert Vest, Daniel Birt Northrup (Danielle), Daniel William Vest, Steven Charles Northrup (Melinda), Robert Don Northrup (Tanji) and Phillip Ryan Vest. He is also survived by: 32 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, brother Raymond Cornell Vest (Bonnie). Predeceased by infant daughter Jeri Lee Vest, brothers: Roland Gene and Norman Dee Vest, infant sister Pauline, great-granddaughter Toralynn. We are grateful to have had his lead in many adventures with our blended family. Including everything outdoors and family get togethers. He was full of love for his family and will be greatly missed. Memorial gathering to be held in St George at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Slick Rock Ward, 2434 E Riverside Dr, St. George, UT. Funeral services to be held in Salt Lake City at 12:00 noon (viewing at 11am) on Friday, January 27 at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S 900 E, Murray, UT. Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
