Cedar City, Utah
Steven Dwight Jenson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend, leaves behind a legacy that will be felt for generations throughout the Cedar City community.
Steve was born to Jay Oliver Jenson and Betty Marie Miller and grew up in Cedar City, Utah, a place he would forever call home. From a young age, Steve had a natural gift for athletics, especially baseball. Those who watched him play remember his incredible ability to hit a baseball farther than just about anyone. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors, spending time hunting, archery, enjoying Lake Powell, and exploring the mountains of Southern Utah. He also spent countless winters as a ski instructor at Brian Head, sharing his passion for the slopes with others.
Steve married Paula Burgoyne Jenson and together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and the community they loved.
A general contractor by trade, Steve was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and unmatched work ethic. He built some of the finest homes in Cedar City, earning a reputation for his extraordinary skill in concrete work and framing. Steve took tremendous pride in doing things the right way, and his work will stand as a testament to his dedication and talent.
One of Steve's greatest legacies was his dedication to Cedar High School softball. What began as coaching his daughters grew into years of mentoring and inspiring young athletes. To Steve, softball was about more than wins and losses. It was about hard work, confidence, and believing in yourself. Countless players looked to him not only as a coach but as a mentor who genuinely cared about their success on and off the field.
Steve's dedication went beyond coaching. He was instrumental in building the Cedar High School softball field, creating a place where generations of young women would compete, grow, and make lifelong memories. More than just a field, it became a gathering place for families and a source of pride for the community. Every game played there is part of the lasting legacy Steve helped create.
Despite significant physical challenges and limitations in his later years, Steve demonstrated remarkable strength, perseverance, and determination. As his body became less capable of doing the things he once loved, his spirit remained strong. He refused to let his struggles define him or keep him from the people and moments that mattered most. Even when simply showing up required tremendous effort, he continued to do so. Whether at a game, a family gathering, or spending time with loved ones, Steve was there with a welcoming smile and almost always a treat to share. He taught those around him that strength is not always measured by physical ability, but by the courage to keep going when life becomes difficult. Steve endured to the end with quiet resilience, unwavering love, and determination. His example of perseverance will remain one of the greatest lessons he leaves behind.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Paula Burgoyne Jenson; his daughters, Karli Jenson and Lindsey Romney (Cameron); his eight cherished grandchildren, Cohen, Ty, Tess, and Wes Romney, and Kendri, Ellie, Jenson, and Lennix Eldredge; and his siblings, Dave Jenson (Judy), Jeanne Mortensen (Ralph), and Rob Jenson (Ranae). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Oliver Jenson and Betty Marie Miller, and his beloved daughter, Jami Jenson.
Steve was a builder in every sense of the word. He built homes, he built a softball field, and most importantly, he built relationships, confidence, and memories that will last for generations.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
