Virginia Scalzo Rossano Klenke

–

Las Vegas, Nevada

Virginia Klenke, 91, passed away on February17, 2022, with her family by her side, after a period of declining health. She was born on September 15, 1930, in Flushing, New York, to her parents Angelo Michael Scalzo and Marietta Scalzo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Rossano, and her beloved husband of 61 years, Virgil B Klenke Jr. She was very devoted to her Catholic Faith for her entire life.

Virginia lived over half her life in Las Vegas. She moved there with her husband and children in April 1971 from Brea, California. She worked for the Clark County School District as the Principal's Secretary at Von Tobel Junior High School for many years. After she and Virgil retired, they traveled the world together.

She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also an aunt to her many nieces and nephews. To her family, she was known as Ginny or Aunt Ginny. She was a very friendly and warm person and very quick to make friends. Virginia loved to cook, and whenever you went to her house, even if you were not hungry, you were going to eat anyway!

Virgil and Virginia bought a summer home in Beaver Utah in 1977 and spent many weekends and vacation time there. After retirement, they would spend the months of Apri1 through October there. In Beaver, they became very active at the Senior Center as well as volunteering at Beaver Long-Term Care where they made many good friends and loved to be of service to others. Then they would say, "Time to go to Las Vegas; it's too cold here."

Virginia is survived by her 4 children Ken (Sue), Tom (Nina), Mary, and John; her brother Joe and sister Janet; her grandchildren Matthew (Griselda), Christina, Jessica, Eric, Allison, and Michelle (Tom); her great-grandchildren Ethan, Brandon, and Zoey; as well as her many nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest at the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver Utah, next to her beloved husband Virgil on February 25, 2022 under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.mortuary.org
