Vyonne Robinson

–

Cedar City, Utah

Vyonne Gibson Robinson passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Vyonne was born January 4, 1947 to Joseph Hunter Gibson and Lela Goodwin of Enoch, Utah. She is the youngest of four children. She grew up on a family farm in Enoch, Utah. She loved her horse Mickey, ice skating on the pond, and learning how to quilt, embroider, and cross stitch.

She attended Cedar High School and was in the first graduating class to attend a full year in the new High School. She formed many friendships in high school that have lasted throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed having lunch, going to concerts, and traveling with some of these friends. One memorable vacation was an Alaskan cruise.

Vyonne and Mitch were in second grade together, but did not date until after high school. Dad teased mom some in seminary and sabotaged the trucks of her other dates when he began chasing her. They had some fun dates including horseback riding and swinging in the park after work. Dad proposed by putting mom's engagement ring in a box of Cracker Jacks. They were married on April 15, 1967 in the St. George temple. They decided if they got married on tax day they would always remember their anniversary. They had five children, 3 girls and 2 boys. They enjoyed 55 happy years together raising and teaching their children and grandchildren the value of work on the family farm. They have 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. They enjoyed lots of family trips to the mountain, family dinners, and playing games together.

Her favorite holiday was Christmas. For many years she painted holiday windows for businesses around Cedar City. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and gathering the family together for our annual Christmas party. She had a craft store for several years. Later she enjoyed decorating and working at the Wood and Lace Place and Comforts of Home, where she enjoyed decorating several Christmas trees each year. She decorated beautiful wedding cakes and shared her talents in many ways. She painted scenery for dance recitals and did the artwork for many of our school dances.

Vyonne was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions including Relief Society President and teacher, Young Women advisor, and several positions in primary. She enjoyed preparing and teaching lessons in Relief Society. She also enjoyed her and Mitch's Service Mission in the addiction recovery program.

Family time was very important to her. She loved spending time up the mountain together with family and away from the demands of life. She was always ready to play games with her grandchildren and attended as many special events as her health would allow. Family reunions and BBQs were not complete without her famous potato salad! It was a highly requested dish for birthdays, farewells, and reunions.

The past few years have been difficult as her health declined and she was unable to do the things she wanted to do. She liked doing hand work and embroidered dish towels and crocheted the edges on pillow cases for each of her grandchildren. She also crocheted the edges of hundreds of baby blankets that were donated to kits for new mothers.

Vyonne is survived by her husband Mitchell Robinson of Cedar City, Her Children Tony (Kayleen) Robinson of Cedar City, Brenda (Dale) Prince of New Harmony, Jason (Amy) Robinson of Central Valley, Amber (Andy) Fabrizio of Tooele, 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Her sisters CoraLe Bruhn and Virginia Neagle of Cedar City.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hunter and Lela Gibson, daughter Becky Robinson Crosby, grandson Tyrell Robinson, sister Alene Chamberlain, and brother Garrie Gibson.
