Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend passed away Friday, January 27, 2012. Walter was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 31, 1919 to Walter Aspinwald Bell and Helen Youngblood Bell. He was the oldest of five brothers and one sister. Walter joined the United States Marine Corps in 1938 and served over twenty-five years, worked for Allied Bendix Aerospace at Goldstone Tracking Station in Barstow, CA, and worked at the JPL in Pasadena, CA. Walter married Norine Hunter, his sweetheart, of Cedar City, Utah on April 13, 1946. Papa married a Mormon and Marine which made life sweet. Dad loved our mother and family, taught by example, and was a life-long learner. He and Albert Einstein will have much to talk about. Dad loved building sail boats, listening to opera and classical music, counted all living creatures as his friends, and could name the stars in the heavens.Walter is survived by his children Michael (Laura) Bell of Yorba Linda, CA; Robert (Linda) Bell of Long Beach, CA; and daughter Deborah of Cedar City, UT; five grandchildren Alison, Matthew, Elizabeth, Elise, and Erin; his brother John and sister Ann; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Antone and Fern Hunter, Richard and Toni Hunter, Kathryn Adams, Georgia Merrill, Nancy Bell, and Theresa Bell, and many beloved nephews and nieces.Many thanks to the health care providers that cared for Dad over the last few years. Special thanks to Taylor, Tyler, and Linette from Iron County Home Health, Dr. Smith and Dr. Clark from Valley View Hospital, Kolob Regional Care Center, and all our Emerald Pointe friends.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 N 300 W, Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held prior from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.Semper Fi, Dad!
