William Alan Goshorn 75, died in Cedar City, Ut. on January 7th from Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 18, 1936 to Henry Phillip and Carrie Charlotte Anning Goshorn. He attended schools in Hillside, Il. and graduated. from Proviso High School in Maywood, Il. Bill graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in the engineering division. He engineered the mathematical solution to solve problems in design for airplane tires that others in the company were unable to solve. The work that he did with Firestone was a milestone for the company.Bill married Dawn Follett on December 27, 1957. They had three children, Steve, Laurie and Peter. He joined Follett Corporation in 1962 and became president of American Publishers Corporation from 1965 to 1980. He left to become the CEO of Raintree Publishing Company. In 1984 he formed his own company, American Media Corporation with three partners. In 1989 Bill moved to Cedar City, Utah and married Deon Jackson Stratton on June 10, 1989. He owned and operated Stonebridge Publishers Inc. in Cedar City until 2009 when he retired. He was a member and Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.He is survived by his loving wife Deon, children: Steve (Mary) Goshorn, Colorado, Peter (Stephanie) Goshorn, Illinois, Laurie Goshorn, Illinois; four grandchildren: Greta, Seth, Logan and Keaton; special 'grandson' Matthew Lister; Deon's children: Curby (Marci) Stratton, Neil (Kristin) Stratton, Danny (Tonya) Stratton, Ken (Samantha) Stratton, KayLynn (Jerry) Sommer and Ben (Tasha) Stratton; 18 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; brother in law: Henry Groat. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George and sister Mary Louise Groat.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar View Chapel located at 1925 West 320 South in Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 North 300 West in Cedar City, Utah. On Saturday, January 14, 2012 the viewing will be held at the Church from 11:30-12:30 pm. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
