Wilma Justet Worthen Gardiner peacefully passed away on May 18, 2014 at her home in New Harmony. Wilma was born October 12, 1927 in Springdale, Utah to Hyrum Smith Justet and Lettica Amelia Langston. She was raised in Springdale, and attended Hurricane High School where she met James A. Worthen. They were married in Bunkerville, NV when Jim was home on leave while serving in the Navy. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Wilma is survived by her six children Vicki Shakespear (Dan) of New Harmony, UT; Cheri Holyoak (Glade) Bremerton, WA; Dan Worthen, Mendon, UT; Christine Topham (Robbie), Paragonah, UT; Mike Worthen (Jan), Cedar City, UT; Pam Buist (Ken), Mendon, UT; 27 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and five great-great granddaughter. She was a step-grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by James A. Worthen, her mother and father, siblings - Heber Justet, Vance Justet, Golda Bishop, Smith Justet, Garth Justet, Garn Justet, Margret Eliza, Daniel Hammond, Beatrice, Ethelyn, Hyrum Weston, Bernice, Emil (Kelly), and Kent. After Jim's passing in 1988, Wilma married Bruce A. Gardiner in 1989 and they made their residence in St. George. While living in St. George, Wilma and Bruce served a mission in Concepcion, Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After returning from their mission, they moved to New Harmony where they spent their remaining years. Together, they served as temple workers for three years in the St. George Temple. Wilma was a dedicated servant and has blessed the lives of many having served as a Relief Society President, Counselor in the Stake Young Women Presidency as well as other positions in the Church. Although she will be greatly missed we know that she is finally at rest and reunited with love ones who have preceded her in death. She has left a great legacy of example and love with all of her families and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at the New Harmony Ward Chapel (12 S Main) in New Harmony, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, May 23rd from 6-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W, Cedar City, UT) and Saturday, May 24th from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the New Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com.
